Frequently Asked Questions

What happens at an initial consultation appointment?

reception

The first appointment is used to establish the clinical problems that are present and formulate an appropriate treatment plan. We start by taking a full history prior to a full assessment of your teeth, gums and oral cavity. This is important to ensure that no aspect is missed when considering the appropriate treatment plan.

Appropriate radiographs (x-rays) will be taken. We try to ensure that only necessary radiographs are taken and will contact your dentist to get copies of any relevant films that have been taken to avoid duplication.

Once all the data has been gathered, an appropriate treatment plan will be discussed. Where the case is complex, this may be at a second appointment to allow time for the necessary consideration and discussion.

A detailed clinical report will then be written and sent to your dentist. This along with a treatment plan that includes the associated costs, will be sent to you prior to booking the necessary appointments.

Treatment Costs

Initial consultation costs are £250 for Professor Needleman and £180 for Dr Baker. This includes any in-office x-ray films that are required and the writing of the clinical report and a detailed cost letter. If a second appointment is needed to discuss the treatment options then this is usually for 30 minutes and is not charged for.

Direct Patient Referrals

For patients that do not have a dentist but do need to see a periodontist, we will see patients who contact us directly. We can advise on the patients dental requirements, and formulate a treatment plan for any periodontal or implant aspects of their care. We do not undertake general dentistry; however we can arrange an introduction to a suitable dentist for general care based on your location and dental needs.
